Disable
India’s diverse population includes people with disabilities such as physical and mental health conditions who confront and overcome extraordinary challenges. Did you know that in India, 2.21% of the population (26.8 million) lives with disabilities , including 12% of children who struggle to access education, healthcare, and protection?
Unfortunately, 78% of disabled children don’t attend school , 45% face violence (UNICEF), 2.5 million are out of school and 33% are malnourished. Only 1% access higher education . These numbers highlight India’s need for disability support.
Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play a crucial role in empowering individuals with disabilities, promoting their rights, and fostering inclusive communities. They provide essential services, including education, vocational training, healthcare, rehabilitation, and
emotional support.
With the support of NGOs and the broader community, individuals with disabilities can break down barriers and reach their full potential. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society for all Indian citizens
